Tailoring Training Centre at Birlapur
A tailoring training centre was opened at Birlapur by Mr Rajeev Bhalla, Unit Head, Birla Jute Mills, on 27 March 2026, under the CSR initiative. The centre will empower women of the surrounding area by enhancing their skill and creating better livelihood opportunities.
Dhanbad IIT students visit BJM
A group of 15 Dhanbad IIT Geotechnical Engineering students and three Ph.D scholars, accompanied by Dr Sowmiya Chawla (Associate Professor), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, visited Birla Jute Mills for practical exposure to the manufacturing process of Jute Geo-Textiles (JGT) and Jute Agro-Textiles (JAT) on Saturday (4 April 2026). There was a Q&A session and the students expressed interest to gain practical knowledge for choosing the right type of JGT for soil stabilization and erosion control and JAT for proper growth of plant/ vegetation and suppression of weed.
