Mr Deepak Kumar Gupta, General Manager, Marketing, Birla Jute Mills, presented a paper titled “Jute Geotextiles-A Low Cost Innovative Technology for Ground Improvement in Civil Engineering Works, with Some Case Studies,” at the National Conference on “Future Challenges for Sustainable Development in Geotechnical Engineering”, organized by the Kolkata Chapter of the Indian Geotechnical Society, at Triguna Sen Auditorium, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, during 20-21 February 2026.
The paper was co-authored by Mr. Pradip Kumar Choudhary, former Principal Scientist & former Technical Advisor, National Jute Board, Union Ministry of Textiles, and Prof. Supia Khatun of Alia University.
He utilized the opportunity to interact with representatives of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited and Kalpataru Projects International Limited, among others, showcasing the potential of jute geotextiles in civil engineering works and BJM’s commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions in geotechnical engineering.
